Cost Per Page Calculator

Find out what each printed page really costs you — and how much you'd save switching from OEM to compatible cartridges.

What is "cost per page"? It's the simplest way to compare printer cartridges: divide the cartridge price by its page yield (the number of pages it can print). A $90 cartridge that prints 3,000 pages costs 3.0¢ per page. Two cartridges with the same yield can have wildly different per-page costs — that's where compatible cartridges win.

Why it matters: printer manufacturers often sell printers cheap and make their profit on ink and toner. Knowing your true cost per page — and your yearly printing bill — is the first step to cutting it, often by 60–80%, without changing your printer.

❓ Quick answers

Are compatible cartridges really as good as OEM?

Quality compatibles are built to the same specifications and page yields as the originals, and independent testing consistently shows comparable print quality for everyday documents. The main difference is price: without the brand markup, cost per page typically drops 60–80%. Clever Supplies compatibles are made in the USA and backed by our quality guarantee.

Will a compatible cartridge void my printer warranty?

No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a printer manufacturer cannot void your warranty simply for using third-party cartridges. They would have to prove the cartridge caused the damage — which quality compatibles don't.

Why is my cost per page higher than the cartridge yield suggests?

Published yields assume 5% page coverage (a typical text letter). Graphics, photos, and bold documents use more toner, so real-world yield varies. The calculator uses standard ISO yields so OEM and compatible are compared on equal footing.
